First Niagara Center
When it comes to hockey, the engineers at Westbury know their stuff--and it's not just because we're Canadian. Our AVL production and systems integration firm has worked across North America with some of the NHL's hottest teams for the better part of this century, including the L.A. Kings, New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, and Anaheim Ducks. The--pardon the pun--goal? To make the fans' in-game experience as exhilarating as possible. The solution? High-impact AV.
Westbury's engineers found themselves at the 19,070-seat First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y.--home of the Buffalo Sabres. John Coniglio, senior project sales manager at the firm, recounts that the team's management wanted to elevate their production capabilities considerably to give them the opportunity to deliver high-performance pre-game presentations, light shows, and video projection. "When they traveled to other facilities, they would see what the other teams were doing, and they didn't have the ability to execute any of that," he says. "Aside from what they could present on their scoreboard, they were very limited in what they could do. They wanted to make the fan experience special." On a design/build basis, Westbury was enlisted to design and integrate an on-ice projection system, a corner banner projection system, and a full lighting package.
