Grey Eagle Resort & Casino
Located on the Tsuu T'ina Nation in Calgary, Alberta, the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino began as a gaming venue with a restaurant and a small bar with a performance stage built seven years ago. A recent building project resulted in a considerable expansion, which included the construction of a 178-room hotel with convention and trade show facilities, a 2,500-seat performing arts centre as well as additional gaming space. Westbury's team worked with the client during Grey Eagle's original construction, and was once again called upon as design/build contractor, providing the design and implementation of the audio, video, lighting, rigging, staging, and connectivity for the entire complex.
David Rapelje, producer at TNR Productions Inc., a production and venue management firm based in St. Catharines, Ontario, has worked with Westbury on a number of large-scale installation projects, including Grey Eagle. He emphasizes the company's conscientiousness in ensuring that the systems it integrates are top-notch: "I can honestly say that I have not found another company that takes such pride in the work they do," he says. "Westbury has a team of industry professionals who get the job done, on time and on budget, and to the highest standards. Their corporate culture supports the belief that no corner should be cut in delivering world-class AV systems to clients. From my tenure as opening production manager at the Fallsview Casino's Avalon Ballroom, to opening manager of entertainment and production at Casino New Brunswick, to my consulting role at the Grey Eagle Casino & Resort, I have worked with hundreds of national and international touring artists. These performers and their crews play thousands of venues and I have a long list of accolades for the systems installed by Westbury across the venues mentioned. Many touring production managers have commented on the craftsmanship and effective system designs created by the team at Westbury as it relates to live performance. It has always been a pleasure working with the team from Westbury on these projects, and refreshing to find a group not focused on how quickly they can get done. Westbury still has corporate pride in the work they do from the design phase right through to the first show. That is nothing you can learn; that is a company belief that you live."
