Scope of Work

Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is an independent research centre in Foundational Theoretical Physics and for this project the client wanted a system that facilitated the ongoing collaboration between peers and students for the ongoing global study of theoretical physics.

The project started as a means to outfit a new expansion of Perimeter Institute and expanded into upgrading all of their existing systems to be consistent, all digital (video), and integrate with the expansion system.

The audio, video, and control systems needed to support the technological requirements of a basic lecture style system, but also allow for an advanced central operator based control room for lecture recording, centralized control and routing, as well as help desk functions.  The system supports video conferencing, HD recording, a proprietary collaboration system, integrated web conferencing, and the ability to automatically record during off-hours and for backup purposes. 

For the lecture style rooms, multiple cameras and microphones capture all aspect of the lecture, whether that be from blackboard use or computer and video presentation, as well as, capturing the lecturer and students for a polished and edited recording.  The recordings are created to be published on PI’s publically available web site.

The system also encompasses multiple meeting rooms, a bistro-style restaurant, and a multi-media “show-case” video wall at the front entrance.  All of these individual rooms and systems have integrated audio, video, and control systems which tie back to the central control room for advanced operations and monitoring.

This project was completed on time and on budget.
